WASHINGTON (AFP) - Americans are deeply dissatisfied with their health care choices and want the 2008 presidential candidates to put health care reform high on their campaign agenda, according to a poll released Thursday.
Americans want overhaul of health care system: poll - Yahoo! News (broken link)
So, Americans have finally realized that what other countries have works better and cheaper + covers all?
No wonder that everyone lives longer than Americans and is more healthy.
Unfortunately, with corporate rule, and power of people extremely weak, it is unlikely that the current corrupt system of profiteering on sick will end.
what a joke. this country is a bunch of whiners. people live longer in other countries not because of their health care, because they aren't fat lazy worthless sacks of crap like a lot of americans. you know what? no matter what the government provides, bans, or does, they still can't make you follow good habits.
Americans have always been a "get the job done" nation. Unfortunately that attitude has now turned to "don't rock the boat or the big corporations won't like it" nation. The people who have now earned their money are terrified that the average American Citizen of today will get some of their "perks". You are right that the common concensus in America is that the Health Service is broken and failing the American Citizen. Luckily the people against some form of UHC are old and their voices will soon disappear. Hopefully the new generation of America will realiser that CEO's only think of themselves and will not be as gullable as a good proportion of the indoctrinated older generation.
As Geeoro says, the problem with private health care and mindset of US corporations is this->
they WILL try to insure healthy, and refuse sick. After all, this yields most profit... I won't even go into hospital bill frauds, and the whole fraudulent system of HC in US.

This is what happens when we are so pro-privatization:
A) Companies answer to shareholders
B) Government answers to the people
Right now we have system that does not answer to the people.

Well said, but it has never been this way in US... There were plans in earlier times to introduce universal HC, it was always dwarfed by profiteers.
Heck, there wouldn't even be a min wage rise if it wasn't packed with corp tax cuts... what a mockery of democracy the US is today.
Country should be run "for people, by people".
