Look. The ACLU sets up a booth at the mall to hand out cards explaining your rights if you are confronted by a police officer. Why doesn't your local police department set up a booth to hand out those cards? Why don't your police, whose mandate is to protect and serve you, inform you of your rights? If the police are doing nothing wrong, what do they have to fear?
The police are required to inform you of your Miranda rights in case of arrest. Beyond that, it's not their job to teach social studies to the public.

Which candidates suggest we should "direct the police to deny the civil rights of everyone who is "different?" By the way, police are under the jurisdiction of the local government.

Funny the un-patriot act backers trust the gubmint to keep them safe when Congress has approval ratings near single digits?

Bunch of tools.

They already do, but thankfully our founding fathers were a step ahead of you. That's why we have checks and balances.

That has to be scarey to see your name on a list and info blocked out. Reminds me of the Nazi , Stalin type lists .

The damage Osama couldn't do to America as far as change the country for the worse Bush/Cheney did for him.

Executive orders, line item vetos, a central bank (which founding fathers were strongly against BTW), an income tax (another thing those founding fathers didn't like), and others put a quick stop to those pesky checks and balances that make it difficult for a small clique (or one man) to get things done.

The "checks and balances" are slowly being removed in favor of "our safety". This is so the government can act faster to protect us.

But that's a good thing, right?

Funny how people seem to gloss over Ben Franklin's ubiquitous quote. Guess he was just an old fogey who didn't know what it's like in modern America. Funny how liberal warmongering neo-cons like to spout off about founding fathers when it suits them then ignore some words of wisdom as reactionary and outdated.

I agree I find it unreal how those that consider themselves patriots have no problem with these secret list's .

Group's like Vets for Peace and Code Pink NON Violent groups are all on the list .
In time those who support these list's will wind up on them also if thing's continue as is.
