I am waiting for one of the politicians to finally voice the obvious that our nation can no longer afford the war in Iraq that has put our nation into heavy debt. Now with the fiscal crisis some are calling the next "Great Depression" can we afford this useless war?

Priority must be for the American people not the Iraqi people [who kill each other over religious reasons We need to bring back our 140,000 troops costing our country money we can not afford.

Here's how much is being spent for the Muslim\MiddleEast people:

U.S. SPENDING ON IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN BY MONTH, WEEK, DAY, HOUR, MINUTE, & SECOND
(based on adjusted DOD FY 2007 obligations)

IRAQ + AFGHANISTAN
Per Month - $12.3 billion
Per Week - $2.9 billion
Per Day - $410 million
Per Hour - $17 million
Per Minute - $284,722
Per Second - $4,745

IRAQ
Per Month - $10.3 billion
Per Week - $2.4 billion
Per Day - $343 million
Per Hour - $14 million
Per Minute - $238,425
Per Second - $3,973

AFGHANISTAN
Per Month- $2 billion
Per Week - $469 million
Per Day - $67 million
Per Hour - $2.8 million
Per Minute - $46,296
Per Second - $771

Iraq Insider: How much does Iraq war cost per month, week, day, hour, minute, second? (http://theiraqinsider.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-much-does-iraq-war-cost-per-month.html - broken link)

No we cannot afford it. Besides, the job over there is done, period. It doesn't make any sense to continue the "nation building" any longer.

However, tell that to all those people who want to continue this senseless war. They won't hear of it. I wonder how they'd feel about the war if they had to pay higher taxes in order to fund this folly.

I don't know how McCain will be able to justify continued involvement in a money pit while our nation falls into deep depression. McCain will lose unless he changes his mind. Whoever is president will stop the war quickly.

Another mess Bush has caused our country

The way things are going, and thanks to the Second amendment, we stand a better chance of taking them out over here than over there.

Per day = 410 milllion.

I like it better when you put it this way:

Your share, per day = $1.25
Your wife's share - $1.25
Each of your kids = $1.25

Per family of four = 5 bucks a day.

Do you want Rocky and Angelo to come arouind every day and pick it up?
Or should we bill you $150 a month?
Or $2,000 a year? How many years is it now? Seven? $14,000?

$14,000 already due and payable. There went your new car. Pay up, or shut up. And then, another 5 bucks tomorrow.

Yeah, after 4000+ dead & $ millions down the drain because we invaded the wrong country. You consider that as "successful"? Sorry bud, but your standard of success is exactly why our nation is in deep depression. Wonder if you would feel the same if you lost your job\home or life for Bush.

Bush has been a disaster for America & will go to his death bed never being honored again.

Has the 1993 World Trade Center bombing been erased from history somehow?
