"The agreement alters the Bush administration's original request for unchecked authority to purchase distressed debt securities from financial companies"
Lot's of folks on the GOP side would like us to believe "they've WON"...
I'm curious...what have they won? We taxpayers have to pay 700,000Million for a bailout package from fiscal madness that occurred on their watch. Isn't the President the leader of the Nation and his respective party while in office?
Perhaps we'll need to examine it from the current Republican supporter's perspective:
We scored a touchdown!! We win!! (It's the end of the first Quarter)
The Surge is working!! We won!! (we're in the wrong Country, fighting the wrong War, for WMD's that weren't there, for 10Billion per month)
McCain rides to Washington!! Suspends his campaign!! Debates anyway!! An agreement has been reached, We Won!! (fill in the blank here)
The President of the United States asked for action to take care of a national issue. This is not a GOP bill!! Dear me. I don't get it. The DEMS have the votes to go any way they want w/ this bill! Why are y'all blaming GOP for this?
Listen - I am sick of Bush, ok? Sick of him. (like Laura but W needs to go back to TX) But he had to do something to address the problem so he proposed some legislation to get the ball rolling. The DEMS have made this into some kind of PR spin wh/ I cannot fathom.
Like I said - Ms. Pelosi, et al, are in the majority! They can do whatever they wish as far as legislation . . . so PULEEZ . . . quit dumping this on Republicans.
Based on the following neither candidate can claim credit: Candidates say they'll probably support bailout bill - CNN.com
CNN) -- Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain said Sunday they would probably vote for the government's proposed bailout legislation once they check out the final details.

In order to take credit you should already know.
They've already decided to vote for it. Just one more example of our one party system. When they work together, we get screwed.

Well Blame Clinton for reversing in 99 the glass-steagall bill and blame the Dems for shooting down any legislation to fix this!
Oh dear. The Blame Game. How about blaming the banking wise guys who came up w/ the lending products (i.e., no doc loans, interest only loans, etc) that caused this mess?
How about that? Why politicize it? Why not just point the finger where it really belongs?
