Religious persuasion aside, the congress should during times of need or involving time sensitive agendas continue to operate, much like the military which does not take take hiatus breaks for religious observances.
This brings back memories of Sandy Koufax refusing to pitch the opening game of the World Series.
Speaking of Baseball, the Chicago Cubs once played the A's in the World series. The Cubs were poised to tie the series in game 4, witha 8-0 lead.. The A 's scored ten runs in the seventh. In game 5, the Cubs took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth, and lost the series when the A's scored 3. Two weeks later, the stock market crashed, October 28, 1929.

If you don't care or think it doesn't make a difference then you might want to go hang out in the pet forum or the mall or anywhere else. Do you have a good book to read or do you have cobwebs in the corners??....do something useful. You probably won't like these threads very much.
Maybe this nation would a tad better off if more of us Americans followed some of the positive stereotypes of Jewish culture. Read that belief in education, frugality, sobriety and so on. Note I am not Jewish either.
Both Houses of congress are suspending work for 2 days because of a Jewish Holiday. I understand that the Jewish members can't work...but what about the rest??
