Nuclear or conventional? I doubt either of them. America has been readying itself for small scale conflicts. There isn't too much of us and them anymore. The world isn't as big as it once was, and globalization has tied us all together.

Unless there is some major shortage, and I am talking major, of natural resources, that make it worthwhile for some of the more militarily advanced countries to go to war with one another, I doubt we will ever see anything on a scale of say WWII. Especially with the threat of nukes.

I would be curious of everyone's thoughts on nukes. If they start flying, for whatever reason, will it be a tactical situation, or all-out destruction. I wonder if us, or another nuclear armed country tried to use nukes tactically, if that is the beggining of the end.

In the end, you could probably do more damage financially/economically, than you could with a gun. Especially these days.

I think the most likely use would be as an instrument of terror by some extremist faction.

Very doubtful.

The US has very little need or motivation to use tactical nukes these days. They're most useful for attacking large formations of conventional forces. If there was a tactical exchange between say, India and Pakistan (not far-fetched) why would anyone else want or need to get involved?

In a way we are aleady in WWIII, it it the war against terrorirsts and it is world wide.
As for a world war involving the major powers, very doubtful, too many finacial ties that would cause the destruction of all the economies of those and even those not involved.

i think every one forgets about the looming and inevitable unification of the Nations of Europe, it will happen and this has come into extreme focus recently due to the economic crisis Europ is pulling its resorses and planing for the fuure and realising that the easyest way to do that is through political conjuncture, the Unification of Europe would bring a huge power shift all over the world and we would quickly see the economy's of the world become dependant on the shall we say USE, considering almost as much as 80% of the worlds resources are either consumed or processed by Europe its likely that there would be very few nations (Excluding China, India) that would be in any position to challenge this, a united Europe would have twice the economic power house of the worlds current largest, america and three times its military forces to boot, so if there was a world war it would most likely be under the realisation of the USA that it wont cut it alone forming treaties and trade agreements with Europe in a desperate attempt to save the ever yet weakening USD, leaving for only one logical possibility, East vs West and excluding the possibility of the use of nuclear weapons would undoubtedly be won by the west dude to an economic and military advantage in terms of strength and technological advantage, of course would be no easy task but a 3rd world war could see the end of segregated nations.

Is WWIII likely in our lifetime?

I would think of it more as the Civil War II

We're in the 4T Crisis and have been in it since the stock market crash in 2008. Although the foreshadows began to appear with Hurricane Katrina and the weakening of the housing boom in Florida. This was also the year the increase in foreclosures would kick-off and the credit crunch began.

But anyway, 4T Crisis eras are defined by Decreasing crime, widening sex role distinctions, artistic license is minimal, personal violence and substance abuse reducing. falling immigration, rising fertility rates, economic setbacks.

During the 4T, there is preoccupation with worldly dangers. Wars are very likely and are fought with fury. A new set of ideals is adopted. Low tolerance for risk -prone behavior.

http://fourthturning.com/html/history___turnings.html (broken link)

The last 4T Crisis was from 1929-1945, started with the '29 stock market crash and ended with the end of WWII.

All of the past 4Ts saw major wars that occurred that altered our country and our world and a major war roughly every 80 years...
-Past 4Ts...
*The Glorious Revolution from 1675-1704
*The American Revolution 4T Crisis from 1773-1794 saw the American Revolution.
*The Civil War from 1861-1865
*WWII from 1939-1945 (1941-1945 for the United States)
*Current crisis...80 years after start of WWII will be 2019. WWIII perhaps?

The other book Strauss and Howe wrote in 1997 explains that there is likely to be a major war sometimes before 2025, with the climax of the war occurring around 2025. If there is a war, it will most likely be fought with full fury. They also predicted then that the Crisis would begin a few years after the Oh-Oh decade started, they mentioned 2005 in their book and the Crisis actually started in 2008, although the warning signs began to appear around 2005.

More information about the current Crisis era- http://www.opednews.com/articles/YEA...10417-955.html

Strauss and Howe predicted in their 1997 Fourth Turning book for the upcoming Crisis...An impasse over the federal budget reaches a stalemate. The president and Congress both refuse to back down, triggering a near-total government shutdown. The president declares emergency powers. Congress rescinds his authority. Dollar and bond prices plummet. The president threatens to stop Social Security checks. Congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling. Default looms. Wall Street panics.

Of course! What's taking so long for it to occur? It might happen in the next 20 years.

The White countries of the world will never go to war again in our lifetimes. To have another World War would mean the death of the White race and its economic power and inventive spirit.

IF there is another world war it would be between the West and the East. I also don't doubt Israel's behavior could throw the world into another World War.

And most countries don't have the capability to wage war on a global scale only the Whites could previously do that, now a days the only possibility would be China and I highly doubt they could too.

WWIII was the Cold War.

WWIV will be one where the smartest survive and extend the human race into the sentient beings they're suppose to be.
