BAGHDAD - A suicide car bomber struck the convoy of Iraq's minister of labor on Thursday, killing 11 people and wounding 22, police said.
A spokesman for the ministry said the minister, Mahmoud al-Sheikh Radhi, was unhurt. Three of his bodyguards were among the dead.
Separately, the U.S. military handed over security responsibilities in an area that includes what was once known as the "triangle of death" to Iraqi control, another sign that violence throughout the country has subsided.
Which is what we should have done before investing so much blood and $$$.
Preachin' to the choir.
