That's an ambiguous statement. There are plenty of white Muslims in the world. I think what you are meaning to ask is why are Christians afraid of Muslims.
Only people who are brainwashed are. Bush and Cheney brainwashed most Americans that barely got through trade school that it is a "us vs them", being "white born-again rednecks vs muslim"
Most Americans don't know what the difference between a Persian and Arab, other than a Muslim and a terrorist.
By reading these boards, and if this is a good consensus of the American population. Most Americans are not very intelligent. We are one of the last nations in a list of hundreds to believe in evolution.
People are afraid of the unknown, change and differences. Always have been and always will be. Ignorance propels hate, change promotes animosity and differences create seclusion. If you can alter the reaction to those three things you are well on your way to a unified world.
I am not afraid of muslims. I actually have muslim friends. I am afraid of all fundamentalists, be the christian or muslim.
Agreed. Religion does not have a place in government, although we have that pesky "in God we Trust" thing going on...I think what is also upsetting to me is that painting somebody as "muslim" has become a permissible slur in this campaign season. The link below to a ny metro area newspaper discusses the pain this has caused for this community. And it does not leave Obama out of the blame later in the article...for thos who feel I might be posting as a McCain bash .
In God We Trust didn't become the official motto of the US until those jesus hatin' Ruskies put Sputnik in space. Same goes for changing our pledge of allegiance, adding "under god" ...
