First I have to say I am confident he will be fine, and I am confident our economy will be fine when all this mess shakes out...and yes this did have to happen now, or it would have been much worse later, even though it could have been mostly avoided.
The reason I am really liking Obama is exactly why some people dislike him. Many people feel he just talked his way to be president, but I have to say to me he is exactly what this country needs right now...A great motivator! He seems to be very smart, personable, fun, and on and on... but I love that he is a great motivator. To me a lot of people in this country are not self motivated, and certainly the Government is not motivated. I think because he is so smart, and is such a great motivator, this will be a great thing for this country and the world! Mcain did absolutely nothing for me in his speeches, but Obama often brought a tear to your eye. Like him or not, he makes you listen..and he makes you actually feel something. This will be a great thing for everyone.

Funny. His speeches just made me roll my eyes and chuckle. I hope that he can do 1/10 of what he has promised. If he does, he will be a great president.

I doubt McCain would change things up in DC, and the thought of Palin potentially becoming President was frightening to nearly everyone except the GOP base!!!

What president ever does 1/10 of what they promise?

You are right to doubt that McCain will change things in DC. He ws not elected. He cannot change anyhting.

Not one president has every done 1/10 of what they promise. Ever heard the phrase "read my lips, no new taxes!"? (roll, snicker) Of course very few have promised as much as Obama did. They make primises that are unrealistic and stupid. They promise things that have nothing to do withthe president. THey promise things that simply cannot be done. Words are cheap. I rolled my eyes and chuckled at some of McCain's speeches too.

To me money is the best motivator. I'd prefer to be motivated by the thought of getting to keep some of my hard earned money for myself and my family. Politicians don't generally make me feel much, I feel it's better not to become emotionally attached to politicians.

I felt that Obama just did more of the same but to a much larger degree than the typical politician. He promised many wonderful things, whipped people into a frenzy believing he's going to save the world.

I would much prefer a politician that would be honest about what really needs to be done and that's that people must stop living way over their means, that a credit economy is foolish, that we're moving into times of austerity. Instead he has people thinking that the good times are going to roll, the spending party has just began -- but I believe the party is over.

Glad to see some thoughtful, intelligent posts on this subject...cuz what I've been readin' & hearin' lately has been full of vitriol.

Lots of "problems" caused by both sides of the political fence, and I'm on the "Change" bandwagon. That's why I endorsed Gov. Palin for Vice President. She doesn't have enough experience in D.C.? EXCELLENT!

While I respect everyone's opinion, I couldn't vote for the Obama/Biden ticket. The prospect of having Sen. Biden as president is much more worrisome than having Gov. Palin there.

The American people were stuck between a rock & a hard place with this election. Pray for our new president to be strong & make the "right" decisions.

What I find amazing during this election year is the fact that even though we elected a "liberal" presidential ticket, many local & state propositions swayed to the "conservative" side. E.g., CA voted NO on gay marriage.

That really surprised me.

Capitalism works only if folks pay their bills. As our parents taught us early on, NEVER take on more debt than you can handle, make sure you save some of your income, and stay within your means.

My Grandparents grew up during the Depression, maybe that's where their knowledge comes from....

Sen. McCain is still that, Sen. McCain. We'll still be hearing from him.

He's fun to watch...

President Bush, #41, didn't raise taxes during his term....the Democratic Congress did. Sometimes I think those congresscritters did it just to make him look bad.

But, I digress.

You are definetly "in tune" with the political winds regarding promises. It ticks me off that they raise your expectations so high, then reality checks in and you realize that they'll say & do ANYTHING to get elected.

Knowing that and you still like him? Why are so confident things will turn around and then say something like that? I think with an ethical/moral viewpoint, Obama stands above other politicians. Is he better than McCain/Palin... we will NEVER KNOW... what we WILL know is how Obama does as a President next year... I do feel that I do agree with a majority of Obama's viewpoints and plans BUT I am totally (and I do mean TOTALLY) against socialism and I do KNOW for a fact that some of Obama's plans are over-the-board socialistic... Socialism will never work and I can guarantee you that it will make things 100X worse in the future.. other than that, we will have to wait for Obama to come into office before making any real judgments...
