When Republican Sen. Bob Bennett from Utah suggested today that General Motors and Chrysler merge to save money as a precondition of any federal bailout, he must of been surprised when both CEOs said they might agree.
if anybody opposes the bailout, here is a page where you can send an email to your representative. (even though i am pretty sure that the bailout is a done deal). you can only try and fight this looting of our country the best you can.
you are not bailing out the workers, but you are bailing out the unions and their legacy costs, which coincidentally just happen to be due next year.

Let the government buy them out at current market prices for all the stock of the big three. Then merge then into the US Auto Company and run them as a limited profit transportation utility. The new company could pay union wages and support all the retirees with the savings in executive salaries because the managers would not get more than any other executive level civil servant.

Great Idea We hear Americans don't want to bail out the Auto Industry. My understanding of all of this that we're sick of Irresponsible management at all management levels which also includes relevant board of Directors at these companies. For years and years they made irresponsible decisions on the design and fuel efficiency of American Workers. I do feel sorry for the rank and file workers who were brainwashed in many ways by the Management of all 3 Auto Makers, " Oh we're fine" while they focused on the building of car manufacturing plants outside of the US. Folks I don't think it is any different than many Corporations who know in advance that the company has problems but wait till the last minute to pull the rug out from employees and lay them off. And to be fair many Americans are saying hey I could lose my job or may lose my job where is my company bail out. These thoughts are all IMHO
Check out my comments on "Welfare Cheats" thread. The modern managment class seem to be the biggist cheats of all.
