That was my first reaction after the election as well, but then I chatted with some conservatives here who, I believe, are sincere when they say that they bear no ill will toward homosexuality; they simply based their vote on their belief that the definition of marriage should be a union between a man and a woman.

I'm glad I had the discussions with them. It's so easy for us to get locked into a diametrical way of thinking about controversial issues. I find it really refreshing when I can see eye-to-eye with someone with calls himself a conservative. It makes me feel like I'm evolving.

I understand your point, but that's why I had the option to vote for "Neither makes me uncomfortable."

Neither makes me uncomfortable. the only way I would become uncomfortable is if either tried to impose their way of thinking on me and alter my lifestyle or beliefs..to each his own, who am I to judge another

Since I currently live with both an Atheist and a homosexual (male), my answer would obviously be neither.

Seems?

I'd say the election of Bush/Cheney t-w-i-c-e casts serious doubt on "seems".

Then again, there is NOTHING logical about religion, the main force behind prop 8.
I think there were a good number of people who are comfortable with gays and lesbians but they would much rather gays and lesbians have civil unions or domestic partnerships.
Also you must include some Mormons from out of state who claimed California residency in order to vote Yes on Prop 8.

Unless you move to "liberal" California.
