To me, if you are comfortable with gays, people should be comfortable with gay marriage. Unmarried gay couples live together just as unmarried hetero couples live together. So why deny one group marriage and not the other. Seems we have a HUGE disconnect of logical thinking in this country.
That was my first reaction after the election as well, but then I chatted with some conservatives here who, I believe, are sincere when they say that they bear no ill will toward homosexuality; they simply based their vote on their belief that the definition of marriage should be a union between a man and a woman.
I'm glad I had the discussions with them. It's so easy for us to get locked into a diametrical way of thinking about controversial issues. I find it really refreshing when I can see eye-to-eye with someone with calls himself a conservative. It makes me feel like I'm evolving.

Neither makes me uncomfortable. the only way I would become uncomfortable is if either tried to impose their way of thinking on me and alter my lifestyle or beliefs..to each his own, who am I to judge another
If you're gay, don't try to redefine the meaning and definition of marriage for everyone else.
If you're a self righteous Christian don't try to define marriage for me. Don't try to tell me how to live my life. Don't try to impose your "values" on others. Don't try to restrict my rights because I will fight you every step of the way. You will lose. Guaranteed.
i am more uncomfortable with incompetent auto and financial executives who destroy their corporations while receiving obscene salaries and bonuses and then have the gall to ask the taxpayers to fund their failing enterprises. That some of these executives may be either gay or atheists -- or both -- is immaterial.
How odd. About 85% say they are NOT uncomfortable with homosexuality, but 55% of Californians voted for Prop 8, which implies they ARE uncomfortable with gays. Hmmm?

Then again, there is NOTHING logical about religion, the main force behind prop 8.
I think there were a good number of people who are comfortable with gays and lesbians but they would much rather gays and lesbians have civil unions or domestic partnerships.
Also you must include some Mormons from out of state who claimed California residency in order to vote Yes on Prop 8.
