WASHINGTON – The terrorism threat to the United States over the next five years will be driven by instability in the Middle East and Africa, persistent challenges to border security and increasing Internet savvy, says a new intelligence assessment obtained by The Associated Press.

Homeland Security forecasts 5-year threat picture - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081225/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/homeland_threat_forecast - broken link)

I worked for DoD for 30 years. The 4 reported 'threat' areas are the same ones we were looking at in the mid-1990's. Anyone with a grasp of the obvious, who reads the papers on a regular basis, could've listed the same 4 threat sources.

I had to read the OP a couple of times to figure out that nothing had changed........not news.

I'm ready.

I still have plenty of duct tape and plastic sheeting left.

One question, though -

Wht happens if I have a room ready to go to that is all safe and secure with double duct tape on the seams, but I happen to be across town when the attack occurs?

Maybe I should make myself a suit out of the plastic and tape and wear it everywhere I go? Sorry, I don't put a lot of faith in Homeland Security. These folks are part of the same government that is too stupid to handle Universal Health Care.

So we're poor and unsafe nowadays? Goodness sounds like we're in a third world country. No news is good news.

Maybe the news headline should state:
Homeland Security forecasts a need to create fear to keep themselves employed for the next five years.
We have reds under our beds and Muslims under our mattresses.
Remember to keep on the lookout for scary PETA contributors, men with fashion sense holding hands, and groovy pot smoking, tree hugging hippies.

Threat? I'd read up on the Cerberus Capital Management group and look at what companies they're buying. They make me more nervous than Obama, but I wouldn't be suprised if they own him already.
