I would hope that the OP is not suggesting that either of these groups of kids should be above reproach. If this kid was shoplifting, he should be punished...regardless of his race.
I hope the OP steps in here, but what I read from his posting was the sarcasm. Everyone was screaming what a good boy he is, and that his involvement in the Jenna 6 incident was a fluke, and he's ready for presidency... blah.. blah.. blah (faceitous, of course, but they were trying to make him out to be a saint).
This article submitted by the OP was just pointing out that he wasn't (and obviously still isn't) the saint everyone tried to make him out to be. He was a delinquent then.. and he's still one now, apparently.
ummm...how about the fact that he is a worthless thug and maybe he is tired of wasting good oxygen? sounds like a good enough reason to me. they should give him his gun back now.
I interpreted "stealing shirts on Christmas Eve" to mean he had no money for Christmas presents. Could be wrong.
I dont see the attorney's angle about cleaning a gun. (The AP report said he shot himself in the chest.) Wouldnt a suicide attempt imply shame and remorse, and getting out of jail to go home and clean your gun imply thuggery, to a Louisiana judge?
I saw an article sometime ago with updates on the "Jena 6" and several of them have been in a ton of trouble. I'll have to dig the article up; for all their celebrity status (guest hosts of the MTV hip hop awards, etc.) you'd think these guys would be examples of upstanding black youth who were caught up in a moment of righteous indignation when they beat that white kid up.
"Wooten says the 18-year-old [shot himself in the chest] around 7:40 p.m. with a .22-caliber firearm.
"Wooten believes Bell was upset over media coverage of his arrest last week on a shoplifting charge.
"Eighteen year old Mychal Bell of the 'Jena Six' case was arrested on Christmas Eve for allegedly trying to steal shirts from a Monroe Mall department store."
Way to show some Christmas empathy there, sailordave.
Christmas Empathy?
How 'bout the kid just not steal stuff? I've never been caught shoplifting on Christmas Eve, because I'VE NEVER STOLEN ANYTHING ON CHRISTMAS EVE.
