I hope the OP steps in here, but what I read from his posting was the sarcasm. Everyone was screaming what a good boy he is, and that his involvement in the Jenna 6 incident was a fluke, and he's ready for presidency... blah.. blah.. blah (faceitous, of course, but they were trying to make him out to be a saint).

This article submitted by the OP was just pointing out that he wasn't (and obviously still isn't) the saint everyone tried to make him out to be. He was a delinquent then.. and he's still one now, apparently.

ummm...how about the fact that he is a worthless thug and maybe he is tired of wasting good oxygen? sounds like a good enough reason to me. they should give him his gun back now.

I interpreted "stealing shirts on Christmas Eve" to mean he had no money for Christmas presents. Could be wrong.

I dont see the attorney's angle about cleaning a gun. (The AP report said he shot himself in the chest.) Wouldnt a suicide attempt imply shame and remorse, and getting out of jail to go home and clean your gun imply thuggery, to a Louisiana judge?

I saw an article sometime ago with updates on the "Jena 6" and several of them have been in a ton of trouble. I'll have to dig the article up; for all their celebrity status (guest hosts of the MTV hip hop awards, etc.) you'd think these guys would be examples of upstanding black youth who were caught up in a moment of righteous indignation when they beat that white kid up.

Sadly, and not surprisingly, they're not.

Way to show some Christmas empathy there, sailordave.
Christmas Empathy?

How 'bout the kid just not steal stuff? I've never been caught shoplifting on Christmas Eve, because I'VE NEVER STOLEN ANYTHING ON CHRISTMAS EVE.

Pretty simple.

Couldn't find the article I was looking for. But here's a wikipedia article, with references, updated to yesterday:

Jena Six - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"...Members' subsequent activities
Bryant Purvis, aged 19, was arrested on February 7, 2008 for an assault causing bodily injury on a fellow high school student in Texas, where he now resides.[95] Purvis was placed on probation for a year and required to do community service for the offense.[96] He is a freshman at Ranger College, a junior college, attending on a basketball scholarship.[97]

Corwin Jones, now also 19, was arrested on May 10, 2008 in LaSalle Parish on a charge of misdemeanor simple battery, stemming from an incident three days earlier in which the Sheriff's Department alleges that Jones struck a man from behind as several people, including Jones, came towards the man and his friends, with Jones' companions carrying baseball bats....Jones had previously been arrested on January 24, 2008 on a trespass-related charge...

Also on May 10, Mychal Bell was stopped in Olla, Louisiana for speeding and not having proper vehicle insurance while on a weekend pass from his sentence. Bell was not supposed to leave Monroe, Louisiana during the pass. The vehicle was towed due to the lack of insurance...Bell's mother, Melissa Bell, was arrested on October 11, 2008 on two counts of aggravated battery for allegedly hitting two women with a shovel, and was held on $100,000 bail...

...On July 9, 2008, Beard, who is now 17, was released from house arrest so that he could attend a summer program and football camp in New York State. It was revealed at a hearing on that date that Beard had been recommended for expulsion for thirteen disciplinary actions, but that the recommendation had been overturned. In New York, he stayed with a local attorney and worked as an intern in the attorney's office, while taking summer courses to prepare him for junior year...the Canterbury School in Connecticut.[108] Half of the $39,900 annual tuition is being paid for with Jena Six defense fund money...

On December 24, 2008, Bell was arrested and charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, and simple assault, having attempted to steal clothes from a department store and reportedly fought back against a security guard and off-duty police officer. He was released on $1,300 bond. On December 29, Bell shot himself in the chest with a .22-caliber firearm, though his wound is not life-threatening..."

The years when we've had no money for Christmas presents, we simply didn't give Christmas presents.

Pretty simple.

There's no excuse. It might be different if he was stealing food for his starving children. But he's not. He's just stealing shirts for himself.

That's because your case is old, worn out and tired.

Quit making excuses for criminals.
