BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – An "eternal" flame at Bullhead City's new veterans memorial park that only lasted until city officials received a $961 gas bill has been re-lit following complaints by veterans groups.

The Medal of Honor Memorial at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Park alongside the Colorado River was lit on Veterans Day in November.

Eternal flames are stupid and waste gas for no good reason. They also attract homeless people trying to stay warm. Use a bright florescent or LED light shaped like a flame. It won't cost more than about $25 a month.

For the record, I am a veteran. Let it be known that when I perish, I'd like a windmill and solar panel lamp memorial vs a flame!

When I die throw me in the incinerator and use me for energy. Human power with a twist.

Great posts!

I honor and respect veterans but an eternal flame is as stupid and wasteful as water fountains in Arizona.

Honor Veterans while they are alive, they won't give a damn when they are dead.

Can we stop shutting cities down for funeral processions... Just saying.... How much gas does that waist with 100's of people following behind the hearse and everyone that drives by it stops and idles on the side of the road. Well most everyone. I'm all for respecting the dead but when I'm dead I don't want people needless disregarding facts so I can be remembered....That's why I post in the eternal CD forums...

It is really messed up here in the south. They pull over on BOTH sides of the road to let the funeral go by.
