A woman who reported a vicious attack by an ad-hoc "modesty patrol" on a Jerusalem bus last month is now lining up support for her case and may be included in a petition to the High Court of Justice over the legality of sex-segregated buses.
Miriam Shear says she was traveling to pray at the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City early on November 24 when a group of ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) men attacked her for refusing to move to the back of the Egged No. 2 bus.
Wake up. You're not in America (or Canada).
Even if you are right, you may not get things your way.
The rules of the old country (middle east, eastern euorpe, and the far east)
may not always be writen, but are expected to be followed.
you dont tell the law to take a hike there. that is america.
separation of the sexes is to reduce friction. here in america we stay a mess all together. do you understand that in other countries they still have honor concept that means if some bozo says or does anything to her, then i am obligated as her relative/husband to respond. you cant just walk away it doesn't work that way. so the sexes are apart to reduce incidents.

Not the law in Israel. Rather a bunch of ultra-orthodox Jews who make a big deal whenever religious law is not being observed. In the US and Canada they are merely novelties, but in Israel they are rather annoying and occasionally violent.
I've been told by Israels that it is not uncommon for them to spit at you or curse if they see you basically doing anything other than going to temple on the Sabbath.
This is merely another case of their douchebaggery.
although it may not be right, that is the way it is in some other countries. especially in the ultra religious countries. it says she was asked more than once, although she was only beaten once. i think those criminals should be brought to justice. i also think this woman should appreciate the fact that she is from america and lives in canada, and can sit on any bus, anywhere she likes. another thumbs up for being an american citizen and living in the greatest country in the world. Customs/culture are rarely law, but are followed like rules by many outside of the USA.
