Um, the Fed is not owned by the banks. Technically, the Fed should refer only to the Board of Governors, which is a government agency, and the fact that member banks are required to purchase "stock" in a local FRB is meaningless. Those "stocks" cannot be sold or traded, and serve primarily as a receipt for the dues a member bank is required to deposit into FRB accounts. The system of FRB's is jointly directed by the Fed, by the FRB's, and by member banks, but it is the Fed that will ultimately have the final say.

if your kids had work ethic a work program stimulus would function, but of course they do not. so it wont. the GOP was correct to question the big tax cuts. we need to start paying for things instead of signing for everything.
what is disturbing is a whole lota hard right want illegal immigration and cheap chinese labor, if i did not know better its almost like they want an enslaved underclass to serve them.
"who you guna get to do your dirty work when all the slaves are free"

""Hardball is reporting that the new bill is 42% tax cuts now and 58% spending, which is considered a big win for Republicans. And they are still fighting it.

And when it finally comes to the floor, they won't vote for it anyway.

That's how a truly ruthless opposition party works. They ruin the legislation, are lauded as winners for ruining the legislation, and then vote against the legislation that they ruined. Awesome.""

Dems get played again...The GOP wrecked the stimuls bill, the media spins that the GOP won the stimulus debate....and most of the GOPers will not vote for it regardless so.... they don't incur any risk when if fails...........
Yay!

The Senate deal is basically Republican moderates telling the Limbaugh Wing to go jump in a lake. How that sort of fracturing plays out as a victory for them, I don't know. McConnell is still bellowing filibuster, but he isn't sitting on the votes to uphold it. Unless something changes in the near-term, this will work out as a total collapse of the positions the right-wing has been defending. If the acrimony and betrayal talk keeps going, one has to start wondering how long it will be before the Maine ladies and perhaps a few others simply declare as Independents and start caucusing with the Democrats. Say good night, Mitch...

Right. And damn the people, who are understandably reluctant to lard another couple trillion onto the shoulders of their grandkids, having recently expressed such outrage at Bush for his obscene deficit spending.

If this is a Demo victory, it's Pyrrhic. But what the hay. Any depression that keep Charlie Rangel's tax attorneys in business is a good depression...

Deficits are like wars. Some are forced upon you, and then there are those that ridiculously stupid people take up by choice...

Yup, and let's not forget that Obama still has the other $350 Billion in released TARP money to use.
