There was some hope it would get stopped. As people looked at it they saw more and more they didn't like, especially the health care provisions. That was about to send it back for rewriting. No wonder Obama was so desperate to demand it get passed, even threatening. The stock market took this like it was poison. And that Geithner. He was so shifty eyed and tense now we have to wonder what further damage this guy is going to cause to the banks.
Hello, Great Depression. I feel sorry for the poor republican( or independant, hopefully) that inherits Obamas mess in 2012.
I was dead set against it. i still am. In fact, I think we need to stop at the money we've doled out on Bailout I, just count it as 350 billion bucks down the rabbit hole, and stop Bailout II altogether.
I believe all the tax cuts should be stripped out of the stimulus bill because supply side tax cuts do not stimulate anything and are a farce and a delusion. I did not support bailing out the bankers but I do support all the instant pork in this bill because one man's pork is another man's paycheck. We need a lot of paychecks to keep this economy form crashing. We also need the infrastructure repair that would result.
I am worried that it is too little, too late just as the Republicans want. Their constituents have already hedged their wealth so would not lose in a deeper crash but everyone else would. That is no matter to them.
I feel bad for the next generations. They will be handed a tremendous amount of debt. If this plan fails, there will be hell to pay.
What is even scarier is that for all the clamoring over the stimulus bill, the Treasury, under Geitner, is proposing to spend even more money than the stimulus package on trying to shore up banks without needing any approval.
The high deficit brought on by Bush et al will drastically pale in comparison to the deficits that will come.
