Protect myself from what? My job is secure - my industry is somewhat recession-proof - and I have enough seniority to dodge any temporary layoffs. My home is paid off. My car and truck are paid. I owe only $1200 on my Harley, but my credit card is high. No problem, really. I'll pay it off by the end of the year.

I have to ask the same question...protect myself from what? I'm retired and debt free, everything I own is paid for. Did I miss something?

Good for you guys.

Do you still have cash in the bank or is it under your mattress?

I'm seriously considering taking mine out.

I see by the comment under your name you must have been a Bush supporter, and voted for McSame.

Now I ask you, how did Obama get the economy in such a mess by the end of the day on 1/20/09? Or gee might it have a whoooooooooooooole lot to do with the idiot that thought 'trickle down' was the solution. Exactly how well did that work?

I don't keep much in the bank and haven't for the past two years. I only keep enough in our checking account for our cell, monthly utility bills and food, I pay my monthly bills online. My wife and I only have one credit card each, we cancelled the others we had.
