So, we refuse to recognize Hamas as a legit government entity, only a terrorist organization? Makes perfect sense to me why we would pledge almost 1 billion in reconstruction aid after the "look the other way" Israeli assault and destruction of the Gaza Strip.

You know, if we are so hell bent on providing aid to a-holes like that, couldn't we have been more proactive on avoiding the war and contribute to development instead of reconstruction?

I still know of a city here in the US who could use some more re-construction capital..cough cough, New Or..freaking..leans!

It's amazing how contradicting and hypocritical our country is.

Screw the entire government as far as I'm concerned. They don't seem to give a damn about any of us.

"U.S. aid for Gaza reconstruction will be "substantial," a State Department official told FOX News Tuesday after reports that the Obama administration plans to designate at least $900 million to rebuild the war-ravaged strip controlled by the U.S.-designated terror group Hamas “

You been reading about Galveston, Port Bolivar, Crystal Beach, Gilcrest, and so on down the Bolivar Pensula? Where is the hell are the federal dollars not to rebuild but to cleanup? How about rebuilding the bridges and access roads to the Beach. Ike has torn the hell out of that area and it is still devistated with piles and piles and piles of debris for miles and miles...say 30+ miles from the ferry get off from Galveston. The remains of Beach Houses, thousands of em, most were on pilings 12+ feet off the ground. Washed away. Hell there are no doubt still bodies in that mess of the stupid, stubborn ones, (usually old) that would not leave. Little sympathy here, but still.

The Republicans are gone and marginalized, the only reason a Republican gets a microphone is to futher emabarrass him/her self and their party. I hope and pray thaings are about to change

We have to borrow that money from countries like china. I say screw the Govt. for screwing the American people. Look at how fast Obama's approval rate is dropping. I predict lots of corruption and scandals and the GOP will rise again.

Please no! We need a Constitutional party or Libertarian party to save this nation. We need the room. The Dems won't go anywhere soon because they simply purchase their votes with handouts.

I think this billion was to try and establish a foothold in the Middle East as a more even handed broker, to see how the Palestinians respond to the gesture.

But, I can understand why folks would resent the expenditure.

We should tell the Palestinians if they want help from us then they must give up on terrorism and they must reform their corrupt government and they must cease their rockets. Only then will we give them a dime. And, to be fair, tell the Israelis that, unless they STOP and CEASE all building of settlements anywhere outside their 1966 borders, we will not give them a dime either.

Then I would suggest that you stand in the forefront of demanding the establishment of democracy in the Middle East.

P.S. folks should have thought of that back when they refused, like now, to recognize the PLO as the legitimate government in the occupied territories.

"And, to be fair"

We would tell the Israelis to go back to Poland, Germany, and wherever the hell they came from. The palestinians are the rightful owners of occupied Israel. We were complete idiots to put them there in the first place. Hating the Palestinians for wanting their land back is insane. I thought all of this crap was settled back during the crusades. To simply displace a people because the "chosen people" wanted to go back where they were ousted fair and square is silly. And how is having a Jewish State any more frightening than an Islamic State?

At least giving money to the Palestinians is helping people who were wrongfully displaced by an arrogant international community. Funding Israel is like buying rockets for Goliath while David still has a slingshot.

"...it's an open secret in Israel that tens of thousands of Russian immigrants used forged papers as a means of exiting their country of birth, pretending to exercise the "right of return." So here is yet another insult to heap on those whose great-great-grandparents were born in Palestine yet are treated as if they live there only on sufferance."
