Seems to me just a bit of information is missing from that article - like exactly HOW MUCH more time? 2 weeks? 3 months? A year? Need that.

I am for assisted suicide. HOWEVER, I see fully your concern for misuse. (My father is wholly against it and has made valid points to keep my mind open.)
I think there would have to be strict guidelines in place to aid in preventing...pressure...but some might argue that my ideal would be too constraining...and they'd be right, too...sometimes the pain of living surpasses the ability to live for another 6 months as a zombie.

My concern is not so much with having a registered physician provide a pill but instead removing any illegality from a loved one assisting an end - with clear documentation and witnesses that this was the desire of the patient.

The fear that you present is not baseless...I heard disturbing, albeit out-of-context blips about seniors basically having to 'tolerate' what a younger person would not, based on viability...and in my opinion, that's bull****.
