Does anyone else have a problem, or a concern, with the vast amount of young children being doped up on powerful mind altering drugs? It's not just the children but they will be the focus of this thread. Everyone should know, by now, how profitable and how powerful the pharmaceutical corporations are. And hopefully, people become aware of their closer relationships with Doctors on an unprofessional level. It seems every day, that industry is coming up with some absurd new disorder, such as PMDD or RLS (LOL), simply to peddle their drugs and ensure their large profit margins.

The disturbing thing is the vast amount of people that believe they have these disorders simply because they saw a television commercial or simply because a doctor told them. In today's day and age, doctors treat their patients like a drive thru at a fast food resteraunt and nothing more. You can't count on their opinions like you used to be able to do.

What I have a hard time dealing with is all the kids who are being drugged up and having their child like spirits stomped and stymied for one reason or another. Now, I don't doubt that some actually need the powerful pills on a daily (hourly) basis. However, the majority does not in my opinion. And often times the side effects are much worse than the actual discomfort of the supposed "problem" to begin with. What are we teaching our youth, if we tell them at a young age that things such as discipline, fortitude, patience, strong parenting techniques, etc. do not matter when you can just pop a pill? Can you say, values out the window? That would explain a lot of things such as the current status of our country in all phases. Think about how many children are popping powerful, mind altering substances during the most crucial point in time of their lives (as the brain continues to build connections and the body continues to grow). What will the effects be 10 years from now? 20? 30?

On a side note, I always get a kick out of prescription pill commericals ALWAYS showing happy people out in nature. Why do they do this? They want their audience to think it is perfectly natural to consume their nasty man-made chemicals.

It is, without a doubt, one of the most scandalous and troubling aspects of our modern society, absolute tragedy waiting to happen.

I have a problem with it, but this isn't some particularly unique to this generation or the for several generations before them.
