That would be pretty low to do that. Hopefully smarter heads will prevail.

Thumbs down Obama Plan to Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment...

Obama Plan to Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment... (http://news.yahoo.com/s/usnw/20090316/pl_usnw/the_american_legion_strongly_opposed_to_president_ s_plan_to_charge_wounded_heroes_for_treatment - broken link)

"It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan," said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. "He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it."

<more in link>

This is bound to make all veterans and their families outraged! And it should upset all Americans because we all count on our military to protect us and defend our country. What in the world is Obama thinking?

Wow, this is really LOW! If he's wanting to screw over the veterans like this, I can't wait to see what his plans are for those of us on Medicare.

Yep! It doesn't look good for anyone except the lower working class and people already getting entitlements, who will be getting a influx of money under Obama's redistribution of wealth program....all at our expense. What an usurper!

You didn't honestly believe the pretense that they (dems/libs) actually cared about the troops, did you?

It seems the Hill democrats know a stink-bomb and a potential defeat in the polls when they see one;

Dems Fuming Over White House Plan To Make Vets Pay For Service Injuries

Quote:
Democrats in Congress are organizing to squash a White House proposal that would require veterans to use private insurance to pay for treatment of their combat and service-related injuries.

In a letter being sent to the White House, a group of House Democrats, led by Rep. Glenn Nye (D-VA), warned that such a proposal "could harm our veterans and their families in unintended, yet very serious ways, jeopardizing their families' health care and even negatively affecting veterans' employment opportunities."
They forgot one thing; this plan, if implemented, would bring about defeat in the voting booth, 2010.

Why else would they be opposing obama's plan so vehemently?

Demonizing vets has been the in thing for a while from the vile left. That doesn't include all lefties but it started in Vietnam and has carried through and been a teaching they stringently hold on to.

If they can just get people to stop volunteering to the military....

Well, if Obama is successful in reneging on promises the military makes to new recruits then they will stop volunteering. Obama and the Lefties would rather those people join his Civilian Corps and sing Kum-Ba-Ya to our enemies anyway...
