Limbaugh Defends AIG From "Lynch Mob ... Ginned Up By Obama"

Anger at American International Group knows no party lines. But one top Republican isn't joining in. On Monday and Tuesday, Rush Limbaugh defended the insurance giant and their bonus payouts:
"A lynch mob is expanding: the peasants with their pitchforks surrounding the corporate headquarters of AIG, demanding heads. Death threats are pouring in. All of this being ginned up by the Obama administration."

If a cat gets stuck in a tree in Des Moines Iowa, rest assured, Rush will find a way to blame Obama.

As much as I hate to say this, Rush seems to be speaking some truth for once. Look at this:

"There is a major push underway -- engineered by Obama's Treasury officials, enabled by a mindless media, and amplified by the right-wing press -- to blame Chris Dodd for the AIG bonus payments. But it was Tim Geithner and Larry Summers who openly criticized Dodd's proposal at the time and insisted that those limitations should apply only to future compensation contracts, not ones that already existed. The exemption for already existing compensation agreements -- the exact provision that is now protecting the AIG bonus payments -- was inserted at the White House's insistence and over Dodd's objections. ...Dodd was the one fighting against the White House in order to apply the prohibition to all bonus payments, i.e., to make the compensation limits retroactive as well as prospective. ...It was Obama officials, not Dodd, who demanded that already-vested bonus payments be exempted."
The dishonest "Blame Dodd" scheme from Treasury officials - Glenn Greenwald - Salon.com

Seems Obama bears much of the blame, and is now trying to rile the anger of citizens at a corporation. The anger should be directed in equal measure at AIG, Obama (and his admin), Congress and Senate.

Limbaugh is the equivalent of a mobster that tells a shopkeeper that he can protect him from having his windows busted by paying him "protection money." This is a mafia like extortion tactic. Limbaugh knows that the right wing needs him to spread around talking points and propaganda and he is very well paid to carry water for them. It is really very simple to understand how this works. He is there to make Obama look bad with whatever lies and distortions it takes to accomplish his goal. Maybe the blimp with word "mercenary" written across his side, is getting a kickback from AIG to do this.
