Is Jon Stewart Our Ed Murrow? Maybe...

The Jon Stewart/Jim Cramer confrontation on The Daily Show is being widely compared to that between Edward R. Murrow and Joe McCarthy over alleged Communist subversion in the Army. The analogy is considerably less crazy than it first appears. [MOD CUT/copyright]

Do you foresee an award for cable excellence called the Jon Stewart Award?

The Acid Test:

Should Jon Stewart interview Rush Limbaugh?

I would rather see Steven Cobert do it.

At least Murrow used his real name.

Speaking of honesty....

Would his entire career be on the line for the sake of standing up and telling the truth... that would be the case. I don't think he's been threatened as such, but I know when Bush post 911 went into gear, many hollywood types did get quiet. Former FOX reporters being muscled were evidence. NYT was requested by Bush to be quiet. This was dangerous to liberty and truth. NYT apologized, but GOP would rather die than take responsibility for their own actions.

The biggest problem with journalism right now is the merging of entertainment and corporatism circumventing the actual truth they're tasked with telling. What's been hiding under the cloak of capitalism is a propaganda machine feeding people what they want to hear swapping spit with telling them what they ought to conclude. Preying upon the insecurity of the masses infinitely, and they're feeding IT, their master, all along.

Limbaugh would run from either one of them. Remember what Lettermen did to him.

Oh I didn't see that one. I did see Limberger attempt to have a live audience show, but that didn't work out real well for him, so now he hides behind his OZ curtain talking trash.
