If it were up to me, Congress would work for free. Then and only then would we find out who's in it for us, and who's not. When Congress finally remembers who they work for, maybe they'll do what's right for the country. Sadly, i've about come to the conclusion that that will never happen. How else would you explain the total free-for-all, entitlement mentality that we as a nation have found ourselves in?

They have a grave responsiblity. Make it work for their families. ....Pay them a fair wage for what they do.
Pay them so much, our best and brightest will want the job and it's duties.
So you can go into more debt than you have EVER been in and this will somehow get you out of debt because you will hopefully make more money down the road....
I am actually thinking of doing this,we have $70,000 or so in available credit,that could have our well drilled,the cabin finished and get it fully fenced....hopefully after we spend this borrowed money we will be able to pay it back but if not....well it was a gamble for those who loaned us the money...

Depends what the spending is for. For instance, let's say you go into debt to buy a backhoe that allows you to dig up your yard and find the buried treasure...

What about when you take out a loan for a business, and eventually the business pays for itself and beyond?
If all of your credit cards are maxed out, you have awful credit and would be denied a loan in the first place, due to fiscal irresponsibility. Loan denied.

Did you know that congress does not participate in social security? The opted out decades ago for their own pension fund. If ss isn't good enough for them, and they don't even believe in it, why are we stuck with it? it is a giant ponzi scheme that will make Madoff look small time. There's no money in ss and congress knows it. So, my question is, did you know that congress does not participate in social security? Thanks

Yes that would be wrong because you have no idea how business finance works.....Take your 70K and good credit, that will enable you to buy $700K in a business enterprise. Leveraging of an investment!....that's the ticket! Not your stupid cabin and water well... D.A!

Yes even more so! The more you lessen their salary, the more you make legislation the play ground of the rich and wealthy.
SS is fine. Please go an take a look at the SS 2008 Trustee report. It has a "small" long term deficit....It has only a 1% Administration cost...You've been hoodwinked into thinking it's going "bankrupt"...Thanks for asking.
