As parents you are a "custodian" of your children. They do not "belong" to you. They are not property.
Partly right ! you are the custodian of the child, the child does not belong to you. But that's where it ends. The "GOVERNMENT " own the child because you gave his/ her birth cert. to the government , and then accepted a S.S. card from the government. That what the government uses for "their" colaterial for the US dollsr as i have stated hundreds of times. we all are indebted to the government, and we thought we "AMERICANS" were free people!.

Definately not them , any agency that demands you contract , as in requiring license and registration with them knowing by doing that they violate your rights to free movement , An unalienable given right , That Supreme court Justice Tolman , Washington State, has ruled hundreds of times . I personaly will not and do not want them in any part of my life. or that of my family.
We already have CPS and DCF and other child welfare agencies at the state level who investigate all forms of child neglect. If there is evidence of either, the child may be removed from the home and placed either with a relative, or in state custody.
No one owns their children, as Kevin K stated. If you are causing physical, emotional or psychological harm to your child, you may lose your parental rights for a time period determined by the courts.
Therefore, I see no real problem with the treaty. Parents do not have the right to discipline children in any way they choose (thankfully) and children do have the right to emancipate themselves (again, thankfully).
Conversely, I'm not sure how necessary it is for the US considering that we have a state system to deal with these issues already. I'd like to see additional funding for these agencies and stricter oversight for foster homes but I don't know how this treaty might help improve the system we have in place. I'd have to read more about it.
The research I've done on this bill is scary. Pedophile groups are backing this one because they believe it will give them legal access or pave the way to them getting legal access to our children.
