It seems like many people (particularly the wealthy) are tired of paying a large amount of taxes. Should the USA adopt a flat tax system??

Yeah - A flat sales tax on the sale of stocks and bonds.

We already have a flat tax system...

You pay a flat 10% on adjusted gross income between $0 and $16,050
You pay a flat 15% on adjusted gross income between $16,050 and $65,100
You pay a flat 25% on adjusted gross income between $65,100 and $131,450
You pay a flat 28% on adjusted gross income between $131,450 and $200,300
You pay a flat 33% on adjusted gross income between $200,300 and $357,700; and...
You pay a flat 35% on adjusted gross income over $357,700

I want to do away with the IRS and go to the Fair Tax which Neal Boortz espouses. It is a consumption tax that amounts to nothing other than a sales tax. However, it allows prebates to be paid to families so they don't have to pay for necessary items like food, clothing, housing, etc. The same rate is charged for all and all get the same prebate based on what has been determined fair for a family of four.

More people need to study this system to see just how bad out income tax system really is.

You talk too liberal in that reply for me. I am retired and dependent on Social Security but still buy those things from my own retirement funds. Your attempt is very sad, but expected.

No, that is what is called a progressive income tax and is nothing at all like a flat tax. You need to go to the website of Neal Boortz and read up on the Fair Tax he espouses. Boortz on boortz.com

Yes, fair tax made sense to me too. I would have voted for Huckabee if RNC had nominated him, but they wanted to stay the socialist Bush-McCain course.

That would happen but the prebates would keep many of them from actually paying any taxes in the end. Those people spend about all they have on necessities so they don't have to pay. Wealthy people will spend more since they have more to spend so they still get to pay more.
