The meager turnout has, if anything, increased the momentum of the conservative right in the negative direction. Americans will be more convinced that the far right is dying, and is chock-full of crazy people.

(And it doesn't help to pretend that turnout was good - you're just reinforcing the perception that wingnuts are crazy. From the low-ball estimate - 25,000 nationwide - to the PJTV estimate of about 100,000, there's just no getting past the fact that the "movement" just doesn't have much support.)
