No, and we also have to address our Iraq Embassy also known as Fortress America, which is a compound and symbolic of our nation building. It has a full time staff of 1,000 with 3,000 additional people. The embassy is composed of more than 20 buildings on a 104 acres, including six apartment complexes with 619 one-bedroom units, equaling the size of Vatican City. It cost $600 million to construct with an expected operating cost of $1.2 billion a year.

Unless the United States Army surrenders (which they should, but that probably won't ever happen), then no. It won't happen in the near future.

Don't worry, Obama will be doing that soon - snatching defeat from the jaws of victory - in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think the question should be, do we really want to stay in these countries. When will it cost too much in dollars and too much in the lives of the young men and women in uniform dying everyday. Will the benefit outweigh the cost? With the Taliban crossing spilling over to Pakistan, i'm not sure if victory is attainable. With so many challenges on the domestic front and two Vietnams, I think its time to cut losses and get out of the middle east.

Probably a few permanent bases there for a while. Would be a rough remote tour.

Good night! Where were you in 1979 when Carter decided we should let the Iranian people chose their own form of government? Now we have a potentially nuclear armed totalitarian Islamo-fascist theocracy that will certainly use those weapons once they get enough to bring on the conflict between Islam and the rest of the world that they believe will bring this twelfth imam back. You are likely correct that we are wasting our time and energy along with our young people trying to reform these people. Islam and democracy are at odds with one another. Iraq may be the exception because of the religious minorities present. Afghanistan is a waste. Five minutes after we leave it will go right back to being what it has always been. Having said that, I believe the people who live in these Middle Eastern are better off with foreign powers controlling their governments. Left to their own devices, these people choose Islamo-fascism every time.

And the energy to control them is unsustainable imo.
