Democratic strategist James Carville warned on Monday that if the Republican Party were to abandon its decades-old alliance with the Christian Right, it would only cement major losses in party identification and vote totals for the GOP.
He is right. But the same goes for the Democrats, if they lost evangelicals (at all) Obama would have lost VA, NC, and IN. He would still be President, but it would have been close.
Well, almost anything! Me, I'd like to hear the pillow talk between James and
Mary. I've never heard her take on the GOP/evangelical liaison, but I'd imagine it's an interesting one. After the GOP meeting this weekend, the talk is about "moving forward;" what that will translate to in terms of platform changes remains to be seen.
