The only time i find Canadians obsessing over the U.S is when dome idiot on fox news says Canada should be wiped off the map, invaded, plundered or making fun of our military (who by the way have suffered 110 fatalities in Afghanistan). That is when we get pissed off. If you talk about obsessing over American culture, that is a different story because we watch the same shows you do and Walmart is just as much a part of our shopping experience as yours - Supercentre's popping up left right and centre. Though they dismantled Sam's club.
Well Canada is a diverse country. The games you are referring to probably in Quebec where there are a fair share of seperatist groups who would be almost as likely to do the same to the Canadian flag and anthem. If the Hockey game was in Toronto or Vancouver for instance, they would provide due respect.
This year it was the montreal Canadien fans booing the American national anthem and the Boston Bruin fans booing the Canadien National Anthem.
I was at a New York Islanders vs Toronoto Maple Leaf game when some Islander fans burnt a Canadien flag in the parking lot. AWFUL Ignorant stuff.

Agreed, whoever does the booing or the burning is challenged mentally. It is the only moronic way they can express their primitive angst.
It appears to me that a lot of Americans are totally ignorant of Canada and have never even been there. I was in Toronto about a month ago and I was very impressed with how clean and how safe the city was. I ended up going to Montreal last week and although the city was not as clean as Toronto, it is a vibrant city with a great nightlife, beautiful downtown and incredible restaurants. In terms of food, I have to say that Canadians make the best donuts I have ever had anywhere in the world(Tim Hortons) and the poutine is really one of the best types of fast food I have ever had anywhere. I was wondering what most Americans think of Canada?
I think the average Canadian has twice the virtue of the average American. I was surprised at how good a people Canadians are.
If Canada had good weather I bet many people would move.
That's what a healthy dose of Socialism will do for a developed nation.
When we were in Canada in the early 90's, gas was about $2.00/gal. It was about half that in the US. I said to DH: "what on earth do they use this gas tax for? It's not a highway system!" (The roads didn't seem as good as those in the US, in general.) DH said: "I think it all goes in to the General Socialism budget".

LOL, no, we were in British Columbia. This was about 15 years ago.
BC is a rugged province and outside Vancouver there isn't a big population in rural areas.
As for the high taxes, yes but and I don't mean this in an arrogant way- our long term financial prognosis is better than the U.S. With the rising cost of your health care and other expensive things (wars), I can't help but to say TAX HIKES in order to pay for it all.

Gas in Canada is more expensive but don't forget the gallon is larger in volume than a US gallon:
US gal = 3.78 liters
Imperial gal = 4.456 liters
