Japan is ranked number 10 by the WHO.

I think when designing a healthcare system you need the input of accountants. 50% of Japanese hospitals have deficit problems related to the Japanese gov'ts artificially set medical prices. These hospitals can't properly balance their books using those prices. Anyway,all of this tinkering with prices is catching up with Japan. Prices need to be determined by the market.

I'm not sure what this has to do with Japan or government funded healthcare because I know that if I spent a few moments googling the same stories here in the U.S.

That America will come out better with a reformed healthcare system that is mainly market oriented. You will have some serious problems in the long run if the gov't tries to keep medical prices low like is done in Japan. They pointed out how Japan's hospitals are being made more crowded by people who go to hospitals for the smallest things because costs are artifically cheap.
