The whole point was they were CONTRABAND and as such had to be destroyed. Should porn and alcohol be sent back home?

The church that used that soldier, not to mention the soldier himself, should have read his instruction manual.

Also Im still waiting to hear about the chaplains being attacked. Got more on that?

There is a very clear law about our troops possessing tracts (including coins, pamplets and yes - bibles) for the sole purpose of converting the populace of a US occupied country.
Is that clear enough for you? Unless you want to say that the soldiers in question all speak pushun?

Sounds true to me:

Sounds like a good move on Obama's part. If these soliders want to read these texts for their own use... knock themselves out...if they can't read the languages they have no business with them.

Sorry, I'm not jumping on the anti Obama wagon on this one he was right and did the right thing.
The same thing would have happened if John McCain had won the election.
Playing missionary is not part of the job-- in fact activities like that will cost lives: US , Allied , and potential allies or neutrals.

I don't believe that to be the case in places like Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia. I do believe that in Saudi, for instance, US soldiers are not allowed to drink on base and that female soldiers must cover themselves should they leave base.

It is also ILLEGAL for someone to convert in Afghanistan. They can be sentenced to death - one was recently but managed to be rescued.

Plus, recall W had to change his description of the war from "crusade". To muslims, this sounds like a crusade if some of the evangelists have a gun in one hand and a bible in the other. We are spending a lot of money in the war and these effort will be wasted by the actions of a handful of few lunatics.

And this is at least an insult to anyone of a different faith in the US army. Our army serves the nation, not Jesus.

Preach it!

Ahem, I mean -- yes! Now if only the evangelicals will get the message....

Something we should be changing if we're truly bringing "democracy" and "freedom."
