You apparently skipped a good bit of the news, many of those soldiers came home as pot smoking hippies knowing the real criminals were in Washington DC.
Many werepot smoking hippies when they were drafted and came home with heroin habits because it was cheap and plentiful in Viet Nam. They knew who the criminals were before they left the U.S.

I was a little kid during those times so I was watching cartoons not the news.
If the soldiers came home smoking pot, who could blame them after what they lived through? But the hippies had no excuses.
But I still see the old hippies who were the ones protesting. Maui is loaded with them. But you are right about the criminals being in Washington and it is still loaded with them.
