Well, you are right. This has been going on for a while. It was before GW, Obama, Clinton etc. GW just sat like a duck, letting these corporate clowns pillage our coffers. No regulation, that's expected.

As for Carter: I remember starting to buy hot dogs for my children when he was in office and the lady standing next to me was buying them also. I mentioned what a good price they were and she told me that she was buying them for her dog because she could not buy dog food with her food stamps. If I hadn't had to pay for her dogs food, maybe I would have had money to buy better food for my children. I used to be a Democrat and I am all for having everybody eat in the United States, but I think more people should get out and work to pay for what they eat. It gets a little old and charity should begin at home; not in the neighbors doghouse.
