"....if Israel wants to be free of what it and some of its U.S. supporters call "interference" from the Obama administration, that’s very easy to achieve: Israel can stop asking for tens of billions of dollars of American taxpayer money, huge amounts of military and weapons supplies for its various wars, and unyielding American diplomatic protection at the U.N. But as long as Israel remains dependent on the U.S. in countless ways, then Obama not only has the right -- but he has the obligation -- to demand that Israel cease activities which harm U.S. interests."
I see that even smart people can make stupid statements. Even if the Jews do (which I doubt) control our Congress they really shouldn't rub it in our faces.
IMHO the Likud warmongers have terrorized Israel as well as the Palestinians. The problem is not Israel but is the Tyrants that have taken over their politics and are ruling by fear.

"stupid statement". I think he believes it. He shouted it! It was not some off the cuff comment. This was a declaration.
I think this quote from Jeffrey Goldberg about sums it up:
"An African-American President with Muslim roots stands before the Muslim world and defends the right of Jews to a nation of their own in their ancestral homeland, and then denounces in vociferous terms the evil of Holocaust denial, and right-wing Israelis go forth and complain that the President is unsympathetic to the housing needs of settlers. Incredible, just incredible."
That will most likely go right over everyones head.
Surely it will go over many since Rahm Emanuel is a Chicagoland Democrat so that reference to neo-con won't be seen by many as a joke.
