We've had religion, political affiliation and vague region, how about age. An issue that may affect our way of thinking. Or not?

I believe it affects our way of believing. The older we get the more knowledge we hopefully gain. I know that I do not think the same way as I did when I was in my early 20s or even my early 30s. And hopefully with the knowledge we also acquire wisdom and understanding.

You shouldn't have made this one anonymous. Now you have no way to know how age affects what people have to say. But since I'm older than Hoosier_guy, it might explain some of our differences which have nothing to do with gender.

You haven't checked socio-economics or put together anything that combines that with education and the others we've been polled on.

Do over.

I don't think I'll be able to get another postdoctoral degree from any of these polls!

And I find folks are more likely to admit their strengths and weaknesses, gender, religion and political affiliation anonomously!

Perhaps we can put together some measures for data collection and make a CD bundle? It could increase revenue!

okay, I'll admit it. I'm only 18 and a half. Just sound older for my age. That's what my mom tells me anyway.

It definitely affects the way one thinks. I don't feel the same way about certain issue as let's say 15 years ago. Back then I hated politics, I was selfish, fearless, and just did not care. Now I know how these issues can affect ones personal life. I've taken an active role to be informed on local, national, foreign politics and social issues, and I'm commited to improving my community and also give to charities.

For instance my stance on abortion, the environment and other issues have changed throughout that time. In the process you hope and strive to become a better individual, especially if you have little ones looking up to you.

I'm still working on it!

I am my son's hero for now, so I better be working on it!!

As usual great topic, OTR!!

PHM, thanks for weighing in!

I too have changed radically over the years. I was originally a Republican--having taken the badge from a political father. Then I was able to experience both politics and government from another POV in a social democracy. After social democracy, I was hell bent on changing the world. Of course this led to some strange bedfellows, disappointments, occasional ridicule and even a dismissal after I made my social statements on public airwaves in a PC environment.

But, boy have I learned what is important to me--and somehow my children are getting it right, even if it is left!

I agree that with age comes wisdom and life experience that can alter views on some subjects and it would be prudent for many younger people to listen more astutely to their elders and to show them more respect. Many young people are very cocky and think they know everything even though they have no life experience. There is a great example of that over in the immigration forum but I won't mention any names. I do think though on some major issues such as abortion, gay/lesbian lifestyles and religious beliefs one can be consistent all throught their life.

I will be 25 in July and I probubly much more naive on alot of issues then many people higher in age them I am.

I think that as people age they have more wisdom and knowledge gained through life experiences.

I know sometimes now I look back to when I was 18 and 20 years old and my views have completely changed in alot of ways since then.

Overall politically I have moderated alot in my personal opinions since then.
