It is about time! The President is going to take the lead in slimming down fat ass Americans and getting people on a diet of good food. I hope he goes even further and starts a high TAX on foods that are full of fat and sugar to help pay for the new healthcare programs. Lord knows this country needs it. We are fatter than Canada and they spend 9 months a year indoors hiding from cold weather!

Kev, you never cease to show that you were born in the wrong country. Cuba maybe might be better suited for you..

Default Yay! Great idea.

Halt right there reactionaries -- read the article before you start screaming -- Obama is NOT, repeat, NOT going to take away your butter AND your guns.

"Any health care reform plan that Obama signs is almost certain to call for nutrition counseling, obesity screenings and wellness programs at workplaces and community centers. He wants more time in the school day for physical fitness, more nutritious school lunches and more bike paths, walking paths and grocery stores in underserved areas.
***
"The public health community has worked intensively in recent years to build a body of evidence in support of the very initiatives Obama and lawmakers are now embracing. They frame the issue as one of money: Chronic diseases account for 75 percent of the nation’s $2 trillion in medical costs, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And if the government encourages healthful lifestyles, it could slow the rising cost of health care, though the exact savings are debatable."

Cuba does some things good. They have healthcare and I do not see many fat Cubans. But I was born in the right country that is now doing some things right. We are finally following the lead of the rest of the modern world such as Europe, Canada and Austrailia in trying to fix the epidemic of heart disease and diabetis that is bankrupting the healthcare system here. And it is about time somebody did something about it. I am on board all the way!

Remember those folks who were on the Presidential council for Physical Fitness. Wasn't it Arnold once?

Wasnt it Mike Huckabee of Arkansaw who lost tons of weight and tried to be an example?

It probably would've been smarter to shut down import restrictions for sugar since HFCS ala corn subsidies is really the big catalyst here. Of course, the poor suffer most since they will not have the money for the increase in prices.

Cuba is too democratic and freedom loving. Try North Korea. Five kernels of corn daily, that'll get 'em into shape!

It was and it cost him the election in the primary. If you are a conservative Republican, you are supposed to live in a big house with a big yard and drive your BIG ass 30 miles to work in a big SUV!
