they couldn't be more different. Obama thinks gov should act as a middleman to more things, Reagan had opposite view

Reagan quotes:
Government always finds a need for whatever money it gets.
Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.
Entrepreneurs and their small enterprises are responsible for almost all the economic growth in the United States.
Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.
Governments tend not to solve problems, only to rearrange them.
No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!
The best minds are not in government. If any were, business would steal them away
The problem is not that people are taxed too little, the problem is that government spends too much.
The taxpayer - that's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take the civil service examination

Obama quotes
I think when you spread the wealth around it's good for everybody.
The question we ask today is not how big or small our government is, but whether it works

facts
unemployment went down 2.1% under Reagan
unemployment went up 1.8% under Obama (so far)

You have 8 years of Reagan, and 5 months of Obama. Ask me in 2015.

That one quote alone should send chills up and down the spine of anyone who has worked for what they have. I think Lenin and Stalin probably had similar thoughts. Remember folks, he's not talking about spreading around any of his wealth, just what he will get from you, voluntarily or otherwise.

this spread the wealth mentality (socialism) seems to be making a major comeback. who would have thought it would be in america after we've been trying to get the world on our side for decades on this issue

Give me a break! We've been spreading the wealth around for generations. The only difference between the parties, is who they spread it to. GW and his friend spread it to themselves as best they could through favorable tax cuts for the wealthy, but mostly through obscenely large and lucrative contracts for the defense industry, favorable treatment of the petrochemical industry, etc. The Iraq war was one big spreading of the wealth. Just look at who got rich supplying that war. What benefits did the rest of us get . . . peace in our time? Unlikely.

I'm not investing a dime in the future of this country (stock market) until it's clear Obama is on his way out.

Cuba used to have mansions and a prosperous economy until the leadership their insisted the government was the solution to all their problems

Obama has been such a total disaster in just five months, it will be impossible for him to survive four years, let alone eight.
Hopefully we still have a country when he finishes...

Why are conservatives desperately making proclamations about the totality of Obama's administration after 5 months? They act like there only hope is to say I told you so. Thing is, even if the budget is balanced, we're totally out of Iraq, Gitmo is closed, we have a government health care option etc., you all will still say he failed because you disagree with his agenda. It just seems more about being right than fixing the country.
