It would make pot more available and in some ways could weaken drug cartels but I think we can find other reason to legalize pot and some how dream that this will fix any drug dealers output.

Legalization will end the war overnight. Legalize it and put the bums out of business.

Those cartels who are involved heavily with MJ would be hurt, and maybe hurt a lot more if they try to muscle in on the Big Boys who peddle other drugs.

I could honestly envision an enormous amount of fighting if not all out war among the cartels for control.

I say legalize MJ and let the pushers decimate themselves without any sort of LE involvement.

Advocates of some also say and think that they were waiting for a speace hip from a alien planet to take them fro this erth. All they had to do was drink the Koolaid. The cartels would just start to increase the import of other drug such as cocaine.

The cartels do not go to war over the pot trade. The profit margin in weed is much lower than harder drugs like meth, coke and heroin. Although I think drug legalization is a good thing, the advocates are really reaching here. They should stick to more informed arguments like burdens on prisons and taxing it to remain credible

No way!

We're gonna need the black market to provide reasonable prices once the Big Pot Tax kicks in.

Street prices due to the nature of it being illegal and the number of middle men who jack up the price at each stage of the journey make pot extremely expense. Often middlemen will arbitrarily double or triple the price if they can get away with it leading to an ounce costing anywhere from $120-$300 or more based on quality. Even in a tax happy politician's wildest dreams they most likely will not tax something that is as relatively easy to grow as weed to the point it will be that expensive.

How much does an once of weed cost? | Answerbag.com

Advocates are always coming up with some iron-clad "reason" for same. They're all bogus. They just want legalization.
