Everybody knows that the worst thing Obama could have done was to make a strong statement before the Iranian people themselves acted. Every Middle Eastern expert, every Iranian pundit--all say that Obama did exactly the right thing.

This is just the far right spouting their same old puffed-up, warmongering nonsense. Only this time, nobody's listening. Except their shrinking little "base," of course. Pitiful.

And Kristol? LMAO. Yeah, right.

How about after the Iranian people reacted? One day? 2? 3 days? A week?

“You've seen in Iran,” explained President Obama, “some initial reaction from the Supreme Leader that indicates he understands the Iranian people have deep concerns about the election . . . ”

“Supreme Leader”? I thought that was official house style for Barack Obama at Newsweek and MSNBC. But no. It’s also the title held by Ayatollah Khamenei for the last couple of decades. If it sounds odd from the lips of an American president, that’s because none has ever been as deferential in observing the Islamic republic’s dictatorial protocol. Like President Obama’s deep, ostentatious bow to the king of Saudi Arabia, it signals a fresh start in our relations with the Muslim world, “mutually respectful” and unilaterally fawning.
Yes, wasn't that odd? Showing respect and deference to one of the world's worst oppressors is just beyond belief.

Give it up, sanrene. So far, Obama has handled this beautifully. The only people who don't think so are the extreme right-wing segment of the American media and their followers. Nobody is listening to them. Because they are vicious liars and warmongers, who will do anything, say anything to bring Obama down. It's not working, but they keep doing it anyway. It's kind of bizarre, really.

If he says or does anything strong they'll jump on that to say the west incited all this trouble against "us"
They've done that anyway.

So, let's see, obama sat in silence for 3 days while people were beaten and killed, then he came out with a weak statement (he was "troubled") and still people were beaten and killed - so you see, your left-wing community wide talking point really falls flat on it's face.

They've blamed the U.K. And it hasn't worked. So much for that.

They haven't blamed the U.S. Because it wouldn't work. Because Obama didn't say anything "strong." So much for that right-wing "talking point."

This is a slam-dunk for Obama. Sorry. End of story.

Why do you think obama came out today with another statement? He was basically forced to tell everyone exactly whose side he is on - no one could tell based on his previous silence and weak statement.
While you spread the propaganda of another religious nutjob with that "letter". That article from the link you provided had no byline. No one is taking responsibility for it. Who wrote it?

It's no slam-dunk for Obama. He's acting very out-of-touch. He's fine with Letterman, Leno, Oprah, but he's way too unprepared for the international scene which isn't only about teleprompters and carefully written jokes.

Please do your research. There's nothing "out of touch" about Obama's response to this situation. Just the opposite, in fact. His refusal to condemn the Iranian government early on stripped them of the opportunity to blame the U.S. for this mess. A TOTAL slam-dunk. Sorry.
