Did you hear how they got the results they wanted?

Seems to be lots of chagrin to be had with the few real supporters of gubmint run healthcare. I wonder why if it's so good and so solidly supported, why do they have to lie about it???

Quote:
The poll found that most Americans would be willing to pay higher taxes so everyone could have health insurance and that they said the government could do a better job of holding down health-care costs than the private sector.
Actually, as Bruce Kesler cleverly discovered, what the poll really found was that most Obama voters support substantial changes to healthcare and are willing to pay higher taxes for a government run system:
[A]ccording to the actual poll data, of the 73% of respondents who said they voted in 2008 only 34% voted for McCain and 66% for Obama.
As can be plainly seen on page 7 of the poll's data, only 73 percent of respondents divulged who they voted for last November. 48 percent said Obama, 25 percent McCain.
What this means is this poll surveyed 66 percent Obama supporters versus 34 percent McCain.

It's not government run healthcare, it's providing a government option if you so choose..An example would be, you can use the US Postal Service or any private mail carrier. I know they're different but an example of a government option.

Not quite analogous. The public opition will force out the private option. Employers will drop healthcare like a hot potato and tell their employees to get it from the government.

Insurance companies want to stay in business.

Another reason to ignore most newspapers' polls. Gallup seems to be the only poll worth giving any credence to.

Of course they do but with the bulk of their business (employer funded healthcare)gone, they will be out of business and you will be left with one choice. The people who brought you the DMV.

There will always be people that believe government can do it better than anyone else. With so many examples proving the exact opposite (ie. Medicare, Amtrack, USPS), it's simply astounding to think that just because Obama and Pelosi say they can do it, people actually believe it. It's truly mind boggling.

Case in point:

"Government officials also made unsound assurances. In fact, the federal government's lead actuary in 1965 projected that the hospital program (Medicare Part A) would grow to only $9 billion by 1990. The program ended up costing more than $66 billion that year."

Where do you suppose that extra $57 Billion came from? Taxes.

I'm not opposed to UHC, but I AM opposed to Obama and Pelosi railroading this through Congress as if it's some sort of petty legislation. Expediency will only create more problems in the long run, but you can't tell that to the sheeple.

Would you like to play high stakes poker with me if I owned the cards and could change the rules any time and any way I wanted?

After all, I would be just be providing an option for you.

Now that's some fuzzy math I wonder who does his taxes
