How much profit is too much?

When costs get so high that a middle class family cannot afford a decent plan. Obama's plan sounds mighty like one that my wife proposed on this very forum about a year ago. And it's one that I wholeheartedly agree with.

The insurance company's agenda is to make profits, not to insure the health and rights to treatment of the patient. The arbitrarily choose which procedures and services not to cover to increase their bottom line. They are not in business to promote the general welfare and health of the insured. They are lobbying and foaming at the mouth to not give the American people a public choice, which in turn would force them to conduct business in a competetive way.

Thanks, I was trying to figure out a way to convey succinctly that this idea was going to bankrupt us or cost benefits. You did it way better than I ever could.

Yes give the government a chance.
IRAQ, Somila, bosnia, 911, katrina, debt, bailouts, social injustice, why not had healthcare they do such a great job. Just think for a minute liberals.. think now I know it is hard but think... Jeb Bush might be president and in charge of univeral healthcare or maybe the republicans will own congress again just think about that for a minute. DO you really want govenrment in charge of it.
Sorry I had to bring to light the fact is government is just bad when it comes to anything and I wouldnt trust a democrat either.

No one is actually evem proposing a universal heathcare program now with any actual plan.Even to insure the uninsured it is going to take a huge amount of money from government to subsidise those at very low income. They are basically discussing making all things of value from employer provided to government provided money to count as income for tax purposes. That could put alot more people on the tax roles as taxpayers. That is they only way I see raising the money needed that I can see and it means higher taxes and evfen adding many peole to actually paying income tax.The putting all burden on employers and rich is pretty much gone from the discussions now.It also looks like they could go privte subsidised more and more too with availabilty to all no matter of pre existing conditions.Makes sense seeing that medicare and medicaid are in such trouble now.

Get rid of the waste and we will save money. Think of the disposable income people will have to get the economy moving again. Business will be more profitable and we may have a small chance of retaining some companies that would otherwise leave the US for cheaper production. Right now health care coverage in the US is a Joke.

Debunking Canadian health care myths - The Denver Post
The U.S. has the most bureaucratic health care system in the world. More than 31 percent of every dollar spent on health care in the U.S. goes to paperwork, overhead, CEO salaries, profits, etc. The provincial single-payer system in Canada operates with just a 1 percent overhead . Think about it. It is not necessary to spend a huge amount of money to decide who gets care and who doesn't when everybody is covered.

10 percent of Canada's GDP is spent on health care for 100 percent of the population. The U.S. spends 17 percent of its GDP but 15 percent of its population has no coverage whatsoever and millions of others have inadequate coverage.

At the end of the day, the average after-tax income of Canadian workers is equal to about 82 percent of their gross pay. In the U.S., that average is 81.9 percent.

It's got to be.

The United States has been in a major confrontation roughly every 20 years since becoming a nation ..
