Franklin Delano Roosevelt (http://www.end22.com/fdr - broken link) was elected President of the United States four times. FDR died early in his fourth term after serving three full, successful terms. It was his leadership that brought our great country out of Economic Crisis and War. Congress passed the 22nd Amendment (http://www.end22.com/22amend - broken link) on March 21, 1947 to limit future Presidents to two terms and took the choice out of the hands of the American People, where it belongs. History has no way of determining what would have happened to the United States if Roosevelt (http://www.end22.com/fdr - broken link) had been limited to two terms and had been unable to lead us out of the Great Depression and through World War II. With our current crisis, the American People need to take back their right to elect the leader of their choice. The task is too large and the risk is too great - we must act now! http://www.end22.com/images/fdr-obama-1-290.jpg (broken link) During the last Great Crisis Franklin Delano Roosevelt led America out of the Great Depression and through World War II. Today, Barack Obama (http://www.end22.com/obama - broken link) leads us through the worst Economic Crisis since the Great Depression and leads the War on Terror. We are wise enough to choose our own leader and to decide how long that leader will serve.
Noted in the New York Times on January 5, 2006: "There was nothing in the original Constitution of 1787 that barred a third or fourth term for presidents. That was why ... in 1947, after sporadic public debate, Republicans demanded presidential term limits and changed the Constitution." and "'We ought to take a serious look and see if we haven't interfered with the democratic rights of the people,' Ronald Reagan said in 1986." The article further states: "(They) ... can hope that in another world crisis, this misbegotten amendment will not be there to bar a future Franklin Roosevelt from offering the kind of leadership that he provided in the 1940's." We can NOT stand here and let our rights be trampled ANYMORE!!!
While I would like the 22nd to be repealed, if repealed, it should not take place until the current administration is out of office, be that in 3.5 years or in 7.5 years.
If the people want life time politicians, I think it should be their choice. Term limits violates the peoples choice, no matter how bad that choice might be.
(Also such efforts should be between the citizens and thier elected officials, not some single cause "donation collection" website. They would most likely change their tune if the political landscape changed)

First of all, lets get to a 2nd term first. Secondly, watch for what you wish for. The Republicans wanted the 22nd Amendment because of FDR and they got what they wanted. The first President robbed of a 3rd term was Ike Eisenhower who certainly would have won another term. The next President robbed of a 3rd term was Ronald Reagan. I don't want a "dynasty" in the USA so I am for keeping it as is.
I am all for keeping it like it is now. 2 terms, is plenty of time for a POTUS to do or not do a job. What we should be pushing for is term limits for Congress!

This particular Congressman has proposed this every 2 years since 1997. It has nothing to do with Obama.
