To me it gives me hope that the American voters are really much smarter then I originally thought and America is a society of civil, easy going people where any political discourse is handled in a proper manner.
Now please tell me what makes the CD Politics Forum special to you.
It gives me the ability to talk, mostly reasonably, with people who hold different ideologies then myself. I never want to be in a situation where I do not know at least two different perspectives on issues argued by real people. While I may not agree with any given position, I like being able to hear the rational behind that position and CD allows me that.

For me, the CD forum offers me an opportunity to understand those who have opinions that differ from my own. It is also nice to be able to interact with those from different sections of the US and to see the similiarities and differences in viewpoints.
The ability to understand why certain folks I meet in real life are the way they are. When I moved, I met people who were incomprehensible to me. The POC forum has actually given me a framework in which I can interact with these folks, instead of dismissing them put of hand.
And let's not forget the pure entertainment value!
I enjoy the give and take. But what is most special and unexpected is when mutual respect and understanding happens even though we know we will never agree with one another.

Exactly. Also, it is nice when you find common ground with someone whose political viewpoints are drastically different from your own.
