I am not a Democrat or a Republican but I have to admit that I am proud of having Obama as the president. I do not agree with many of his ideas but it is cool to see an African American as president. I think from now on, most of our future presidents will be minorities and soon enough, we will have a Hispanic president.

It is refreshing to see an intellectual as president, compared to an ignorant, low IQ dumbass like Bush, I feel like we have made some progress and although I do not think Obama will be able to accomplish much in four years, he certainly challenged the status quo.

All things considered, I think some of his ideas are a bit radical but his presidency will be always remembered as a historic event. It gives me a lot of hope for the future of this nation and it would be cool having a Hispanic president elected in 2012.

Welcome to the future, America!

I like seeing a President who addresses controversy head-on and tries to explain himself instead of what we'd grown used to.....

Great, you value race over substance, like so many other Americans (including virtually all of the people who voted for Obama).

If this is the future, then I guess myself and millions of other Americans don't want anything to do with it.

I do not value race over substance but the US overall is so backwards in certain aspects. Even countries like the Phillipines, Indonesia and Argentina have had women as presidents. It took us this freaking long to elect someone who is not an old male Caucasian. I can understand how some of the old people in this country are scared because all of the sudden, they have realized that something is definitely changing. I think eventually all presidents will be Hispanics because they will be the majority.

I am proud of America for having elected Obama. I am less proud of Obama than I was previously, following his floundering, substance-less address to the nation this past week concerning healthcare reform.

Obama had a chance to change the whole notion of governance by appealing to our better angels. He failed that test. I will be less forgiving of him in the future.

And that's the way it needs to be, for us to move past the racial focus and the pride we felt as Americans for having elected our first black president. It's no longer just about Mr. Obama's race; it's about his ability to lead --- and I think he'd be the first to agree...

Over substance? Are you serious?

YOU may not like what he's attempting to do. YOU may not like his spin on foreign policy issues, the economy, or healthcare, but to claim that there's "No Substance" is about as ignorant of a claim as I've seen...

"No Substance" would be taking vacations at your ranch during times of crises..... I like my President, you know, THERE when major things are occurring. At this point in his Presidency I'm sure Bush had already taken a month or two in Crawford...

Who needs good decisions any way, as long as a person of color is making them, I say vote for the color of their skin, or the ethnicity that their last name implies, and to hell with qualifications or proven records of success.

I don't like seeing a President who addresses everything by trying to explain how Bush made him do it instead of being man enough to take personal responsibility for his own actions and decisions. Maybe that view was engrained by 20 years in Rev Wright's church screaming "blame whitie"

America will suffer for generation trying to correct the damage this one man will accomplish for a nation.
