So, did you all expect the glaciers and every species to stick around forever?

Was evolution of and on the planet supposed to come to a stop because humans became self aware?

Is the planet no longer supposed to change?

Will there be no more extinctions and no more new species introduced?

Really, do you think the climate and the planet are not supposed to change anymore?

I will bet you a shiny nickel that nature has extinguished far more species than man has.

This science you keep talking about, is it the claim something and expect every person to buy into it because it says "Climate scientist" on the name badge? Because unless the educational system has been changed to suit social correctness, we do not prove things by claims of consensus or by unproven mathematical guessing machines. That would be the "political science" side of things.

I'll stick with the climatologists, who overwhelmingly agree that humans are contributing significantly to the unprecedented spike in temperature.

No credibility or professional expertise in the field on which he is commenting.

If you knew anything about climatology, you would realize how ignorant that rebuttal is. Maybe spend a bit more time reading about the science and less posting a political position and you may actual understand what I mean with this response. Or... continue on being ignorant. Your choice.

If we pay enough money in taxes then they promise to change the weather and save the planet.

Don't you think that's good enough to make Al Gore and Goldman Sachs rich ? Like they care about anything other than money.

obama's bill calls for 4%, that's not much "change" when europe is at 25%. Like I said before, he can't be a Socialist if he's not even a liberal.

And the irony is that the republicons whine about the 4% while facing an almost super majority like it's the end of the world -- they ought to be happy it's only 4%.

I love how much my spot-on insights get under your skin. I've read your posts. You're pretty clueless, Nomander. You pride yourself on being this academic scientist who knows all, but you are blinded by your own arrogance and can't see beyond the myopic perspective to which you have chosen to adhere.

So be it. In the end, geologists focused on mining underground don't study climate and have no credible expertise. Not much more need be said.

The fact is the environment is like a grandfather clock. The pendulum swings from one side to the other, its called a cycle, and I'm sure everyone knows that the world we live in has cycles.

What CO2 release on the scales that humans have done does, is push the pendulum a little harder. This doesn't mean we aren't going to have cold weather, it doesn't mean we are all going to cook to death in some Venus runaway green house effect. What it means is that we are going to see larger swings in our climate.

Bigger storms, more drought, higher water levels, etc.

Most people know that the climate is different now then what it used to be. I can remember being a kid in TN and having feet of snow to play in. That just doesn't happen there anymore. When I moved to Michigan, and complained about the winter, everyone said, "This is nothing, you should have seen what it was like when I was a kid".

My point is, everyone I know, even those who don't believe in global warming tell me that the weather used to be different then what it is now.

My proof, the northern ice pack is melting, and a northwest sea passage has opened up for the first time in recorded human history.
The oscillation of temperature cycles is normal. What is alarming is that a great deal of research suggests we have reached unprecendented levels that have no parallel in natural oscillations.

Who knows what's really behind it - man, nature, or both - but it is not something to ignore, especially since we humans can only survive in a narrow spectrum and most of our infrastructure was built for a previous spectrum.

Actually, geologists are the ones who do the research to determine temperatures in the earths past, which, I think, would be important if you are trying to study temperature patterns.

Wow. It is just a fact. Plain and simple.

It is interesting that it is still, despite years of papers and scientific data, still a "theory of relativity, "theory of evolution", and "theory of plate tectonics and continental drift". But global warming is just plain fact.

Good science welcomes inquiry and further data always supports a true hypothesis. Much of the actual long term data (millions of years) actually refute the hypothesis of global warming. However, rather than examining the validity of the hypothesis, the global warming cult simply denounces the data, ignores it, and villifies anyone who suggest it. Kind of reminds me of the good old days of Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia, or the Spanish Inquisition. Regardless of the facts, what WE say is true, and you just damn well better like it. God help us.
