Here lies a man that was so intent to warn people of the dangers of the Democratic Party that he made sure it was engraved on his headstone in 1890. Boy was he right!
Through this inscription I wish to enter my dying protest against what is called the Democratic party I have watched it closely since the days of Jackson and know that all the misfortunes of our nation has come to it through this so called party therefore beware of this party of treason.
Put on in fullfillment of promise to Deceased.
We are supposed to have a right to life--congress needs to remember that no matter which party it is. You don't decide that some people are too old for health procedures. That is wrong, wrong, wrong.
I guess that's why no one's proposing that the healthcare legislation include anything even remotely similar to deciding "that some people are too old for health procedures." Oh, unless you're talking about insurance companies and the way the current system is run...then, yeah, wealthy insurance execs get to make those kind of decisions all the time, because, you know, their number one priority is looking out for their bottom line...oops, I mean American citizens.

Eh? So, now the healthcare legislation isn't just about "killing granny" but "killing babies," too? Where do you people get this crap?
To the OP...In general...the Republican Platform of the past decade has been: Indoctrination, followed by Emotions and fueled by Propaganda. This has not, in general, been Democratic platform strategy!
Let me see if I understand you here. Are you suggesting that Dems of yesteryear would bear a striking resemblance to the Reps of today?
As I've heard many times, "Clinton was the best Republican president ever!"
The parties started shifting their roles in about 1860 (there's an interesting historical coincidence there for those who care to look for it) and were pretty much completely juxtaposed by the end of WWII.
I don't know how you can say that the parties started shifting their roles around 1860. The Republican Party had just formed in 1856. So four years after it's formation, and the first time it won an election, and the Republican Party began transitioning into the Democratic Party? I don't think so.
Yes, I can see why you'd post this. He's dead so he must be right. It must be so frightening for you to have the Democrats in charge after the last eight glorious years of progress, prosperity, peace and enlightenment. How lost you must be without W to inspire and thrill you with his legendary eloquence and intellect.
Democrats have been in charge the majority of the last 50 years. They took us into the glorious years of progress, prosperity, peace and enlightenment you speak of -- the New Deal, the Vietnam War that they never intended to let us win, the Great Society...and the mortgage mess.
Now they want to take us into the enlightened health care reform mess.
