I agree the debates should be on c-span. There are some closed door dealings that I think the POTUS has no control over though.
Also, you've got to deal with the insurance companies and pharmacutical companies. The Clintons tried to do it without them, and look how well that went.
I am surprised that more Democrats haven't spoken out about the deal with big Pharma. It goes against everything his bill is trying to accomplish in containing health care costs.
Regarding the pharma deal.
He received $80 billion savings?
Does that mean the estimates on MMA go down by that much?
Quote:
The MMA was signed by President George W. Bush on December 8, 2003, after passing in Congress by a close margin.
One month later, the ten-year cost estimate was boosted to $534 billion, up more than $100 billion over the figure presented by the Bush administration during Congressional debate. The inaccurate figure helped secure support from fiscally conservative Republicans who had promised to vote against the bill if it cost more than $400 billion. It was reported that an administration official, Thomas A. Scully, had concealed the higher estimate and threatened to fire Medicare Chief Actuary Richard Foster if he revealed it. By early 2005, the White House Budget had increased the 10-year estimate to $1.2 trillion

The Democrats probably wouldn't even read it if it was stapled to their foreheads.
Afterall, they never even read any of the Stimulus, Bank Bailout, Auto Bailout and now UHC stuff rolling in, so there isn't any reason they would want to read about any of the shady backroom deals either ..
The first; Health Care negotiations will be on C-Span.
The even bigger one; The deal he cut with big Pharma - during the campaign, he made that an issue - not giving pharma a deal on drug prices.
Won't that deal (to give himself a victory) he made with pharma undermine the very important cost-cutting agenda?
Gosh, how many "Obama is evil" threads will there be TODAY?
