My horoscope says that I would have better luck in my career moving as far from my native country as possible. Lately America is looking less and less promising..

How bad would it have to get before you consider moving abroad??

I think about it every day.

The main thing holding me back is the language requirement in some countries. I like Germany, Canada, and France.
I don't think French would be THAT bad to learn.

I don't know how bad it would have to get but I'm definitely open to moving out of this country. If someone said I could move to any country I wanted to today, I'd be packing fast! I'd also take all those I love with me.

No, not me.
I'd really like the europhiles to get on a plane for their promised land instead of trying to reconfigure America.

I still think America's the greatest and I wouldn't want to start a whole new culture unless I had to. Canada would be no problem moving to. Infact if America loses its character I think Canada better watch out because there will be tons of Americans moving in.

I considered when Dubya was in office, but why run away when you can change it from the inside?

In your first post you said America looks less promising and now you say it's the greatest.

I don't think Canada would be that bad to move to either. I'd be a lot closer to my family if they chose to stay in the U.S.

No, because America's effing awesome.

For all the people gushing over how amazing Europe is, I think they're full of crap. They're ahead of us in terms of education and infrastructure, fine. We admit that. But let's go down the list. Europe has TONS of anti-immigration and xenophobia right now. Tons. No one talks about it over here because the media wants to portray Europe as some promise land or something.

Hell, in France hijabi Muslim girls are discouraged from covering their hair, which is a practice many Muslims feel is mandatory, not to put down women but to uphold to modesty traditions outlined in the Quran.

In Japan, they're openly xenophobic. There is a tremendous amount of unreported sex crime, because of collectivist cultural norms, and no one wants to talk about that either.

America has, imo, the most diversity and ACCEPTANCE of that diversity, than any other industrialized nation on Earth, even if we don't always admit to it. Yes, gay marriage is hotly debated right now, but I think many Americans are warming up to it.

We have the best healthcare in the world. I dont' care what anyone says and all my friends from other countries AGREE. Availability and quality are not the same thing.

Things would have to get God-awful bad before I'd consider moving to another country. I've been all over Europe, living mostly in Germany for a little over 3 years. It's not all that great, especially when you factor in consistent 8-10% unemployment (depending on which EU country you're talking about) among native born persons.

Canada would be the only logical choice for me if things went that far south here. I'm a native Michigander so moving to Ontario wouldn't be a big deal. We already are used to dealing with Canadian coins in our change.

You can say that again! Just ask a German what they think about Turks. I'm not sure how welcoming Europeans would be of Americans if a large number of us were to move over there. I do know that many people immigrating to EU countries from other parts of the world are facing widespread bigotry on the order that makes our immigration problem with Mexico laughable.

I would prefer to stay here and redirect our country back to an open market economy supporting a socialist government. I would not want to move to Canada because it is too damn cold. The only place I might consider is a Central American country or possibly Venezuela. At least that country has a growing economy and might have a use for someone that can build small hydro power plants.

The ANZAC countries are far too expensive and restrict immigration too closely for my consideration.
